Communication and Documentation Specialist

Location: Birmingham, Alabama (Long-Term Contract)

Position Overview

The Communication and Documentation Specialist plays a key role in supporting our client's data and analytics team. This role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing internal communications and technical documentation. The specialist will work closely with the existing communications and documentation team to deliver clear, engaging, and accurate content that supports both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review technical documentation and user guides for internal software applications and analytics dashboards.
  • Maintain and update knowledge base articles and documentation in alignment with upcoming release versions.
  • Create compelling PowerPoint presentations and video content to showcase new applications, features, and benefits.
  • Gather and analyze user feedback to improve documentation and communications effectiveness.
  • Draft clear and concise emails, newsletters, and announcements for technical project updates.
  • Support SharePoint site management by ensuring content accuracy, clarity, and accessibility.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into succinct one-pagers and executive-facing materials.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in technical writing, specifically for end-user product documentation, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience producing engaging internal communications.
  • Strong command of language and grammar principles (APA and MLA).
  • Familiarity with data analytics, Power BI, and application development concepts.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with proven experience collaborating across multiple levels of an organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design principles.
  • Experience with video editing software (e.g., Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects).
